Transmission lines and antennas (Fall 2003)

Principal Content : 1. Modelling physical components when moving into high-frequency design
2. Practical implications of time delay in systems
3. Distribution of electromagnetic energy in free field, into transmission lines and wave guides
4. Reflection theory, standing waves and impedance matching
5. Transmission- and strip-line design
6. Basic antenna theory, design and measurements
Teaching method : The curriculum consists of overview classroom sessions combined with group work of 4-5 small practical design/measuring sessions related to high frequency behaviour of physical components, reflection on transmission lines, impedance matching and antennas.
Required prequisites : Math, Analogue and digital design equivalent to 4th semester level.
