Objective : After the course the student should be able to design and calculate parts of a bigger steel construction on their own, using norms and prescriptions.
Principal Content : Materials for steel constructions
Load calculations and partial safety factors
Load combinations
Windload
Cross-sections and their resistance due to local buckling, elastic/plastic
Lateral-torsional buckling
Design of details
Buckling resistance for compressed members
Static/ fatigue-loaded weldings
Teaching method : Classroom teaching with problems and exercises.
