Objective : To give students basic knowlegde of material properties and their mutual dependence especially of importence in the field of electrotechnics.
Principal Content : Material structure. Atoms, periodic table, type of bondings, crystal structure, phase diagrams, ect.
Mechanical properties. Crystal defects, strength and processing of materials, thermal properties, ect.
Electrical properties. Conductors, semiconductors, superconduc-tors, insulators, dielectrics, ferroelectrics, piezoelectricity, ect.
Magnetic properties. Hard and soft magnetic materials. Dia-, para-, ferro- and antiferromagnetism. Magnetization and eddy current losses, ect
Teaching method : Lectures, demonstrations, problem-solving exercises, 2-3 excursions.
Required prequisites : None
Recommended prerequisites : EFYS must be passed

Remarks : The basis for the examination are the exercises and participation in the excursions.
