Objective : | The aim of the course is to provide the students with an understanding of environmental effects of products seen in a lifecycle perspective, and experience in methods of life cycle assessments. | ||
Principal Content : | Environmental effects, resources, waste disposal and working environment. Methods for life cycle assessments. Inventory of processes (process tree), data collection and impact assessment. Improvement of products by new materials or improved production process (ecodesign). It is possible to elaborate on the product used in PE-4 (integrated product development). |

Teaching method : | e-learning. The work is done individually or in teams. Teaching is based on course material/ textbook, exemplary assignments and an independent life cycle assessment of a product A weekly time for discussions on the internet will be arranged |

Required prequisites : | For Export Engineering students: 1st and 2nd semester and a minimum of 130 ECTS |

Recommended prerequisites : | For non-Export Engineering students: Basic chemistry, general environmental science, basic knowledge of materials and industrial production processes. |
