Objective : To provide the student with a basic understanding of theories, principles and protocol specifications behind electronic data communications based on wired networks as well as wireless networks.
Principal Content : Bandwidth-limited signals. Fourier analysis. Channel data rates. Wireless transmission. Data Link Protocols. Error control, flow control, sliding window. Line utilization. Multiple access principles. MAC sublayer protocols. Ethernet, WLANs, Bluetooth, ZigBee, Layer 2 switches and bridges. Layer 3 routing principles and routers. Internetworking. Quality of Service. ATM.
Teaching method : Classroom lectures taught in English with examples and cases.
Form: Homework assignments.
Required prequisites : For Export engineering students:
Prerequisites: 1st and 2nd semester and a minimum of 130 ECTS.
Recommended prerequisites : For non-Export Engineering students:
Prerequisites: Basic digital electronics and data transmission.
