Objective : The aim is to give the students a basic knowledge of high voltage, i.e. the influence of the electrical field in high voltage equipment in the aspect of corona and flash-over. The purpurse of the course is also to give knowledge of the calculation for dimensioning and protection of equipment for over voltage/lightning protection, and to gain an insight into practical lightning protection. The aim is also to give the students a basic knowledge of high voltage tests.
Principal Content : Electrical fields, The Flash-over-mechanism in gasses with high and low pressure, Partial discharges, Lightening and Traveling waves theory.
Lightning protection and High voltage tests
Teaching method : Class-based teaching, group and laboratory work.
Required prequisites : ETEK2A/ELTEK3 must be passed

Remarks : During the semester there will be compulsory assignments. In order to sit for the examination these assignments must be handed in in due time and approved by the teacher. The lab work must also be approved by the teacher.
