Objective : To provide the student with knowledge of basic mathematical concepts, methods and cognitive processes; basic knowledge of classical physics as well as an understanding of the fundamental principles and laws of classical physics so that the student is able apply this knowledge in formulating, analysis and solving of problems present in different areas of the Export Engineering program. Furthermore, laboratory exercises and the communication of the results of these exercises provide a practical supplement to theory.
Principal Content : Physics - Mechanics: Kinematics in one and two dimensions, Newton"s laws of motion, work and energy. Interdisciplinary course assignment. Mathematics: Function analysis, maxima and minima of functions, limits and continuity, differentiation, integral, the natural logarithm and the natural exponential function. Interdisciplinary course assignment.
Teaching method : Classroom teaching with problem solving. Laboratory exercises with written journals or reports. Mandatory interdisciplinay exercise covering mathematics, physics, and EDP.
