Objective : | The course is designed to improve the students’ oral communications skills and vocabulary as well as their written skills. Aims: The students must be able to: - make a professional presentation - express themselves in grammatically and idiomatically correct English, both orally and in writing. - write a structurally correct essay |

Principal Content : | The focus of the course will be on enhancing the students’ oral communication skills through emphasis on pronunciation, vocabulary and on how to make a professional presentation. The course also focuses on improving the students’ written abilities. Special attention will thus be given to activities which strengthen such skills. Some homework will be required. Students will be required to give a talk on a chosen subject before class in order to train their ability to express themselves clearly and precisely in a communication situation involving active listeners. This also serves to prepare the students for delivery of the oral presentation of their project at the end of the semester. Students will also be required to submit a number of essays to train their ability to express themselves correctly both as to language and structure. |

Remarks : | Graded according to the 7-point grading scale on the basis of active participation throughout the semester, an oral presentation and submission of a number of essays. A test at the beginning of the semester determines the students’ level of English and thus the course they can follow. |
