Principal Content : | Introduction and basics. Heat conduction equation. Steady and transient heat conduction. Numerical methods in heat conduction. Fundamentals of convection. Internal and external forced convection. Natural convection. Heat exchangers. Radiation heat transfer. Introduction to mass transfer. Diffusion. Fick’s law. Phase change phenomena. Boiling and condensation. Case studies and examples from industry, such as cooling of electronic equipment, heating and cooling of buildings, and refrigeration and freezing of foods. |

Teaching method : | The teaching is based on "learning by doing". There will be introductory and summing up lectures. Project work in small groups includes tutorial exercises, assignments, lab exercises, computer simulations, use of internet search engines and case studies. | ||
Required prequisites : | Thermodynamic Modeling (ME-TRM) or equivalent. | ||
