Målsætning : | To give the students an integrated understanding of the importance of Production & Material Management in a situation of global competition. To give the students an integrated understanding of methods used in description, analysis and development of Production & Material Control Systems. To give a basic knowledge of some useful methods / models in Production & Material Management with emphasis on newer integrating concepts. The leraning goals of the course is: - To give the students an understanding of the importance of Operations and Supply Chain Management in a situation of global competition - To give the students an integrated understanding of the implications of the most important decisions about a firms operations/supply chain - To give the students the ability to apply their knowledge on cases |

Hovedindhold : | The content of the course is the following: - The capacity decisions of a company, e.i. where to place factories, what and how much to produce, division of products/components to manufacturing facilities etc. - The upstream supply chain, e.i. how to relate to suppliers - Process technology: How to evaluate and choose the right technology - Organisation of operations and improvement of operations - Introduction to the concepts of Lean manufacturing, BPR and ERP systems - Strategic operations planning and implementation |

Bemærkninger : | This course is not open for students who have passed PMAN2: Production and Inventory Management. This course is part of the International Business Semester (IBS). In order to participate in the examination the student must follow the course actively and be present in 80% of the lessons as a minimum. Furthermore the student must deliver all mandatory tasks during the semester. |
