Objective : To introduce the student to a number of different techniques used for development of distributed systems.

Principal Content : Learning outcomes:
Ability to describe and use relevant architectures to design distributed systems.
Ability to describe and use Java technologies to implement distributed systems.
Ability to describe and design application layer protocols.
Ability to describe and use relevant client side web technologies.
Ability to describe and use relevant server side web technologies.
Ability to describe and use Java Beans.
Ability to describe and implement simple client/server applications using Java RMI.

Teaching method : The lessons consist of theory combined with practical exercises and are closely related to the project course consisting in the development of a distributed system.
Required prequisites : Documented knowledge corresponding to passing second semester.
Type of examination : Oral examination based on assignments

The mark 2 is given when the student fulfills all of the describing learning outcomes, and a few of the use/design/implement learning outcomes.
The mark 7 is given when the student fulfills all of the describing learning outcomes, and about half of the use/design/implement learning outcomes.
The mark 12 is given when the student fulfills all of the describing learning outcomes, and more of less all of the use/design/implement learning outcomes
