| Objective : | To give the students knowledge and understanding of the conditions of loading and strength using statics and Hook’s law on idealized mechanical components in simple truss, beam, frame and shaft structures. | ||
| Principal Content : | Loads: Forces (area, line, point) and moments. Supports and charnier Reactions. Free body diagrams, equilibrium equations. Internal force and moment diagrams. Trusses. Normal and shear stress, strain, Hooke’s law: Cross section properties. Bars: Tension, compression, torsion. Beams: Bending, shear. Example of simple shaft calculations. | ||
