Grundlæggende højhastighedselektronik (Forår 2005)

Kursuskode : EBHSE-U01
ECTS Point : 7,5 Status : Tilvalg for den valgte retning
Revideret : 06/12 2004 Oprettet : 20/08 2003
Placering : 5 - 7. semester Timer pr. uge : 4
Længde : 1 semester Undervisningssprog : Engelsk

Målsætning : The student should be able to: - Design basic high frequency amplifier using S-parameters. - Understand basic components behaviour at high frequency (including microstrip design). - Understand the propagation of electromagnetic fields. - Understand transmission and reflections, Smith-chart and impedance matching. - Understand RF-fundamentals (design and measurement). - Take non-ideal behaviour into account when designing communication systems.
Hovedindhold : Non-ideal behaviour of components at high speed/frequency transmission Transmission and reflection depending on load impedance Impedance matching. Time reflection- and frequency domain measurements S-parameter measurements (Two-port measurements) Propagation of signals at high speed Amplifiers for high speed/frequency transmission
Undervisningsform : 20% lectures/dialog, 30% self study and 50% practical design of high speed electronics.
Krævede forudsætninger : Knowledge of electric and magnetic fields, basic electronics including low-frequency amplifier design (equivalent to kra3).
Anbefalede forudsætninger : -
Relationer : -
Prøveform : Mundtlig evaluering på grundlag af kursusopgaver
Censur : Intern
Bedømmelse : 13-skala
Bemærkninger : Students attending the Danish programme are allowed to hand in reports in Danish. The exam is an oral groupexamination, based on curriculum and the course assignments. Each group will be examined in turn and the time allocation is about 20 minutes per student. Each group member should begin with a well-prepared 7 minute talk on a selv-choosen topic from the projects. Chalk, blackboard and overhead projector are available. Afterwards the teacher and the external examinator will ask questions, starting from the project reports. The questions should give the student a chance to defend the report and to let them show how well thy master the basic theory, which should be reflected in the report and the curriculum. Grading “An individual mark according to the 13 scale is given, based upon the groups joint report and the individual’s presentation at the examination” This means that first an average grading for the groups, as a whole, is given based upon the reports and the presentations. If there is any important detectable difference between the students within a group, we will judge whether the student is better or worse than this grading. This might result in a deviation of up to +/ 2. In extreme situations larger deviations might be seen e.g. if it is obvious that a student has not joint the project work and does not now the basic theory.
