Objective : | Imparting fundamental understanding and knowledge of mechanics of materials, providing the ability to comprehend and compute the conditions of loading and strength of idealized mechanical components such as simple truss-, beam-, frame- and shaft structures | ||
Principal Content : | Loads: Forces (area, line, point) and moments. Supports and charnier Reactions. Free body diagrams, equilibrium equations. Internal force and moment diagrams. Trusses. Normal- and shear stress, strain, Hooke’s law: Cross section properties. Bars: Tension, compression, torsion. Beams: Bending, shear. Example of simple shaft calculations. | ||
