Objective : The aim is to give students a basic knowledge of power systems, fault-condition and calculation for dimensioning and protection of equipment.
Principal Content : Symmetrical systems: Nominal circuits, circle diagrams, transformers in power systems, transmission lines in parallel, VAR-compensation, cables. Unsymmetrical systems: Basic calculation by means of symmetrical components. Power-system Fault calculations: 1-phase Earth-fault, 2- and 3-phase Short-circuits, Double Earthfault and Serie fault. Zero-sequence Impedans of transformers. Alternators and motors fault in-feeds. Fault volt-amperes. Thermal and mechanical effects. Short-circuit protection. IEC recommendations. Electrical currents influence on the human body.
Teaching method : Class-based teaching and laboratory work.
Required prequisites : ETEK2A/ELTEK3 must be passed.
