Objective : | To give the student an understanding of the special behaviour and characteristics of design, choice of materials, calculations and construction of bridges. The student should obtain ability in making project design of multi span bridges, working with a footbridge in reinforced concrete and a road bridge in prestressed concrete. |

Principal Content : | Structural behaviour of bridges and choice of structural materials . Loads on bridges. Bridge, superstructure: Struc tural design. Lay out of Cross Section. Calculation of internal forces and Bearing Capacity for beams and slabs in reinforced and prestressed concrete. Bridge, substructure: Columns (with influens of moments and normal forces, M-N-diagrams), foundations and supports. Bridge, equipment: Baerings, expansion joints, isolation. Repair and maintenance of bridges. |

Teaching method : | Class teaching and project works. In Project works the students are working in groups of 2-3 persons. In one of the Project works the subject are chosen by the students under the teacher"s approval. |
