Statistics and Quality Control (Spring 2007)

Objective : To give a basic knowledge about statistical methods and to use statistics solving practical problems. To formulate a problem in a statistical way and to solve the problem, for smaller sets of date using af pocket calculator, for bigger sets of data using a statistical software, and to analyse the results.
Principal Content : Interval Estimation and Tests. Analysis of rxs Tables. Goodnes of fit. Analysis of variance. Curve fitting. Introduction to Quality Control. A common Statistical software (at present SAS (Statistical Analysis System)).
Teaching method : Class teaching, discussions, written exercises and exercises using SAS. About 140 hours work. of this 65 hours classroom teaching, about 25 hours SAS-exercises and about 50 hours homework.
Required prequisites : An introductory course about probability, distributions and densities.
Recommended prerequisites : IT1, MAT1 and MAT2 passed.

Remarks : It´s only possible to sign up for an examination, if alle the SAS-exercises is accepted. Time are given to preparations. All aids allowed at the examination.
