Objective : To give the student the ability to independently choose the most suitable processes to manufacture given products.
Principal Content : Metal casting, forming and shaping processes, material-removal processes, joining processes and equipment for the above processes.
Teaching method : Distance teaching via www. Working individually (or in groups).
The course is based on the teaching material stated below. Discussions by email can be arranged.
Required prequisites : For Export Engineering students:
1st, 2nd and 3rd semester and at least one exam no. 3 (Prøve 3) on the 4 th or 5 th semester.
Recommended prerequisites : For non-Export Engineering students:
Basic material science.

Remarks : There will be two assignments based on manufacturing applications and seven sets of questions from the course book to be submitted according to a schedule provided at the beginning of each semester. The overall mark will be calculated from a weighting of 30% for the set questions and 70% for the two assignments.
