Soil, Groundwater and Water Works (Spring 2008)

Principal Content : Over view of course subjects, with which the students will plan and carry out assigments and course projects.
Mandatory
Legislation
Soil and ground water pollution: risc assessment, remediation techniques, monitoring, time planning and construction
Ground water resources: drinking water quality, water works, ground water extraction, action plans
Ground water model: water balance, hydraulic parameters, under ground water flow, dispersion of contaminating compounds
The student must do a course project in digital ground water modelling.
The student must do a course project either in water works for drinking water or a remediation proposal for a contaminated site.
Teaching method : Presentations and assignments
Students presentations and discussions. Self tuition
External professionals. Excursions.
Course Projects are carried out in groups of 2 - 4 students.
Decision on the course project is decided upon by the professors after proposal from the students
Required prequisites : The student must have passed all Theme Courses
