Principal Content : | A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to: I: 1. Describe the characteristics of passive circuit elements. 2. Describe the characteristics of commonly used transducers. 3. Describe and relate simple magnetic circuits to Maxwell’s Equations. 4. Describe the principles of commonly applied semiconductors 5. Describe D/A and A/D converters and their typical application. 6. Describe characteristics of basic digital systems and logic gates. 7. Describe the main functions of a microcontroller. II: 8. Describe the characteristics and application principles of commonly used motors and actuators. 9. Describe the characteristics and application of commonly used power semiconductors like: Rectifiers, Thyristors, Triacs and FETs. 10. Describe and analyze typical applications for microcontrollers. III: 11. Analyze and describe the application of frequency response and feedback in simple circuits. 12. Analyze and describe the characteristics of operational amplifiers, their typical applications and considerations concerning stability. 13. Analyze and apply simple passive circuits for steady state and transients properties. 14. Analyze and apply simple combined analog and digital circuits for signal conditioning. |

Teaching method : | The teaching is based on "learning by doing". There will be introductory and summing up lectures. Project work in small groups includes assignments, workshop and lab exercises, computer simulations, use of internet search engines and case studies. | ||
