Objective : | The student needs to acquire skills in how to work with projects through project planning, with emphasis on the proposal phase and the design phase. The project must be within the Building and/or Civil Engineering area. At the final examination, a student, who has fully fulfilled the aim of the course will be able to: - Perform a project with emphasis on the proposal phase and the design phase - Justify the choice of solutions - Explain the construction project documentation - Explain the planning and implementation of the work in connection with the project - Explain the group"s collaboration internally and with external partners |

Principal Content : | 1. Formulation of problem. Brief but comprehensive and unambiguous wording of the task that the students have selected, including the choice of project client. 2. Project planning Breakdown of the task in blocks of actions and activities. Problem Identification: Definition of problems. Design Planning: project and schedule/timeplan for own work. 3. Problem analysis and solution. Definition and delineation of subject areas. Proposal for the whole project and the design of selected topics according to type and magnitude of the task. 4. Documentation consist of two parts: a) The project specifications, the design process and the results are presented in a technical project report directed towards the client. b) An overall project report, which must include the background of the project, methodology, calculations etc. directed towards internal use in the project group. |

Teaching method : | Project work is done individually or in groups appropriate to the project"s size. The students work independently, with regular contact to their supervisor. Project work is presented prior to the examination. |
