Objective : To give the students an integrated understanding of the importance of Production & Material Management in a situation of global competition. To give the students an integrated understanding of methods used in description, analysis and development of Production & Material Control Systems. To give a basic knowledge of some useful methods / models in Production & Material Management with emphasis on newer integrating concepts.
Principal Content : The development stages in Production & Material Management until the resent Supply Chain Management (SCM) view focussing on the end user. Description, analysis and development of Production & Material Management Control systems. Performance measures and measurements within the area of logistics (SCM) and Operations Management. Specific methods /models within selected central areas: - forecast applications and forecast models - Operations, Purchase and Inventory Control models and methods. - Operations & Material Management philosophies and concepts (MRP, MRPII, ERP, TOC, Lean & Agile Manufacturing, SCM and other concepts) - Models for location and distribution

Remarks : This course is not open for students who have passed PMAN2: Production and Inventory Management. This course is part of the International Business Semester (IBS).

In order to participate in the examination the student must follow the course actively and be present in 80% of the lessons as a minimum. Furthermore the student must deliver all mandatory tasks during the semester.
