Målsætning : | To provide an introduction to, and overview of, a satellite system. The course will consider the entire system, thereby introducing all the significant aspects that must be considered when designing or contributing to a space mission. The fundamentals of satellite communication will be covered, including the satellite and its environment, achieving and maintaining the orbit and communication with ground stations. Learning objectives: A student who has fully met the objectives of the course will be able to: •Understand the practical, prysical, and economical aspects og space missions •Design a small experimental satellite •Describe the mission environment and parameters •Design the communication system |

Undervisningsform : | The course consists of a series of lectures and a project undertaken in groups with approximately half the available time spent on each. Teaching will be in English. | ||

Anbefalede forudsætninger : | A good understanding og Mechanical Physics, basic Mathematics, and basic Electronic Circuit Theory. Knowledge of radio communication and antenna theory is an advantage. | ||

Bemærkninger : | You must bring your own laptop PCs There is a midterm test, which will be a written multi choice test. The midterm test will count for 50 % of the final mark. The examination at the end of the course will be oral and will be a presentation of the project work. Questions will be posed to the individual student as well as the group. During the oral examination each student will make a Power Point presentation lasting 7 minutes on a subject from the project. The members of the group must cover different subjects. During the presentations questions will be asked both to the individual student and the group. For a group of 5 students the time for the examination will be 1 hour. |

Additional material such as notes and the software to be used during the course will be handed out or available on a server. |
