Objective : To provide students with an introduction to 3 aspects of developing commercial applications for mobile devices: Wireless Internet Connections, Business Potential of Mobile Applications and Development of Mobile Applications. Learning objectives: A student who has fully met the objectives of the course will be able to: - Demonstrate a general understanding of the functionality of Computer Networking, the Internet and Wireless Networking. - Demonstrate a general understanding of Business Model Innovation.
- Demonstrate a general understanding of Mobile Application Development.
- Reflect upon the use and restrictions of wireless networking technology in relation to mobile applications.
- Reflect upon the innovation process of value creation for the customers and end-users.
- Reflect upon usability, user interface and network connectivity issues of a mobile application.
Principal Content : Introduction to Computer Networking and Wireless Networking Technologies.
Introduction to and practical work with Business Models used in Mobile Application Development and work in practice with Value Creation for Customers and End-Users.
Introduction to and practical work with Mobile Application Development (Android), including Client/Server Interaction, User Interfaces, Sensors and Location Based Services.
Teaching method : Lectures with examples and cases. Homework assignments and discussions.
Required prequisites : -
Recommended prerequisites : Basic sales and marketing. Basic programming in Java. Basic data communications including the TCP/IP protocol stack.
Two years of university studies completed.
