Objective : Together with English C and Physics B, this course aims to give the student competencies and qualifications needed to apply for admission to an engineering education at IHK.
Principal Content : Arithmetic with real numbers and powers. Equations and inequalities. Functions: Basic concepts, linear, polynomial, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions. Trigonometry. Vectors and analytical geometry in the plane and in space. Derivatives, including properties, monotony and optimization. Indefinite and definite integrals, including properties and calculation of areas and volumes. Linear differential equations of first order, including simple modeling.

Teaching method : Lectures, student presentations, assignments in groups and individually.
Two project works.
Homework to be handed in every week.
Required prequisites : 12 years of school with mathematics all 12 years. Minimum score last year should be 70 %.
An IELTS score of at least 5.5 (or similar).

The exam is a 4 hour written exam (midway) at B level and a 4 hour written exam and an oral exam at the end of the course at A level.
