Objective : To give the student an understanding of important subjects within mathematics, see the “Main content” in below. The subjects are of general importance and of special importance for an electronic or IT student. The student achieves a fundamental understanding of the theory and ability to solve problems either manually or using Matlab software.
Goals
For each of the chapters in the course, there is a detailed list of goals. The curriculum list may be used by the teacher to define written tests and assignments. The student should be able to explain the learning goal in written form in the assignments or tests and in oral form at the exam.
The evaluation of the student is based on the following learning objectives:
A. Scanty understanding of the very most fundamental subjects
B. Rather good understanding of many fundamental subjects
C. Almost perfect understanding and derivation of all subjects
Principal Content : The main content in the course is described in the following chapters:
Linear algebra (vectors, matrices, determinants and linear equation systems)
Complex numbers and functions
Differential equations
Fourier series
Sequences and series
Teaching method : Classroom teaching, homework, mandatory assignments, presentations and tests
Required prequisites : Mathematics corresponding to the A-level of the Danish gymnasium.
Recommended prerequisites : -
Relations : Foundation for all other courses at the EIT department
Type of examination : Oral examination
External examiner : Internal
Marking : 7 step scale
Remarks : In order to enter for the exam, it is mandatory to
1. Hand-in and present all assignments in right time
2. Do all the tests in right time
The teacher defines the number of assignments and tests and when to hand-in and present the assignments and do the tests.
If a student is late with a total of 4 assignments or tests, the student may be refused to enter for the exam.

The grade is based on the 7 step scale (12 is maximum)
2 is given for fulfilment of learning objectives A
7 is given for the fulfilment of learning objectives B
12 is given for the fulfilment of learning objectives C
