Objective : To give the student the practical qualifications necessary in order to carry out ordinary laboratory work in the laboratories of the department such as:

- mounting and soldering of components and plugs
- basic knowledge about resistors, capacitors, light-emitting diodes, coils and contacts
- application of measuring equipment for the measurement of:
voltages, currents and resistances
amplitude and time frequency (oscilloscope)
Rise/Fall time and propagation delay
- knowledge about integrated circuits, especially digital circuits
- print layout and manufacture of prints
- manufacture and measurement of square generator
- manufacture and test of CPLD print
Principal Content : Practice of practical skills and documentation of both the theory and the results obtained in the exercise journals.
Electrical joints, measurement techniques, conversion diagrams to real circuits, print manufacture, tests.

Based on the work in groups the practice of work principles is achieved, regarding the solutions you find together as well as the individual research and feedback to the group.

The basic knowledge of components, symbol notation and the difference between the ideal component and the real one.

Calculations of simple circuits, repeat observations and error estimates.
Teaching method : Short introductory lectures. Checking the attendance of the students. Laboratory work consisting of small exercises. The students keep an exercise journal which must be turned in the same day that the exercise ends.

Any deviations from the above have to be put in writing and arranged in advance with the teacher.

Marking : Approved/Not approved
Remarks : Evaluation:

90% attendance. All measurement reports must be handed in and approved. Practical project work with documentation must also be handed in and approved (Students" test piece).

The study module must be approved before the student can commence the third term.

The Counsil of the Department (sektorrådet) selects the students who have to attend the VKET study module.

In special cases the student can be exempted from some parts of this module, but never from the test piece.

On some of the afternoons the exercises take until 6 p.m. The student has to bring his own tools (a small pair of cutting nippers, a small pair of flat-nose pliers and a small screwdriver).
