Objective : The course aims to give the students basic knowledge of production and production companies and provide basic knowledge to and practical experience with problem based group work. The course project takes its departure in the results made and the competences gained from the 1 semester project.

The student must be able to:
• Describe a given production company from an interdisciplinary angle in relation to technology, management and economy.
• Calculate production costs (cost price) from the assumptions given.
• Describe a production process and calculate the economic consequences of this.
• Sketch ideas to an alternative design of a given product (product maturing).
• Simulate the chosen company’s production system (using an IT simulation program).
• Analyse basic environmental aspects - internal as well as external – in relation to products and their production.
• Analyse and reflect on work processes with the focus on planning, communication and cooperation.
Principal Content : The overall theme of the interdisciplinary project on the second semester is production processes. The project consists of:
• Production maturing of a product.
• Creation of a production system including control systems for a specific production.
• Introduction to a business description of the manufacturing system.

Connected to the project work are a number of thematic courses within the areas of management, environment, simulation and project implementation. These thematic courses are to support the project work.
Teaching method : Project work in groups of 4-5 students. Each group may draw on academic supervisors within the fields of technology, management, economy and information technology.
In the thematic courses, the teaching is organised as class room teaching or workshops, all depending.
Required prequisites : Project 1 must be passed. The student must have participated in the exams of courses on the first semester. The student must be registered for and participate in classes on the second semester courses.
Relations : The project further develops compentencies developed in project 1.

Remarks : All sub-tasks during the project period are part of the evaluation according to the description in the project draft. A final project presentation of the course is made followed by an individual examination. The joint assessment of all the sub-tasks and the individual examination must both live up to the requirement for passing. If the requirement can be met, the mark is determined based on a joined assessment.
