Objective : | To give the student the ability to independently choose the most suitable processes to manufacture given products. Learning objectives: A student who as fully met the objectives of the course will be able to: - list material properties, design and functionality of the most common manufacturing processes - characterize processes and groups of processes in order to determine realistic materials, geometric possibilities, tolerances and surfaces. - ... general knowledge about process possibilities, tolerances and surfaces - suggest which processes will be relevant for manufacture of a given component - suggest relevant processes in a given production situation |

Principal Content : | Metal casting, forming and shaping processes, material-removal processes, joining processes and equipment for the above processes. | ||
Teaching method : | Distance teaching via www. Working individually (or in groups). The course is based on the teaching material stated below. Discussions by email can be arranged. |

Required prequisites : | For Export Engineering students: 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester and at least the PE-4-3 exam and/or the PE-5-3 exam must be passed |

Remarks : | There will be two assignments based on manufacturing applications and seven sets of questions from the course book to be submitted according to a schedule provided at the beginning of each semester. The overall mark will be calculated from a weighting of 30% for the set questions and 70% for the two assignments. | ||
