Objective : The aim is to give the student a knowledge of the basic principles and fundamental concepts of feedback control systems.
Principal Content : Introduction to automatic controls.
Modeling and linearization.
Introduction to state space models
Block diagrams and signal flow graphs.
Bode diagrams and root locus.
Time- and frequency response.
Stability. (Nyquist and Routh-Hurwitz).
Closed loop response
Choice of regulator and determination of its parameters.
Teaching method : Class based teaching combined with laboratory work.
Required prequisites : MAT3 passed
Recommended prerequisites : MAT3 passed

Type of examination : Two and a half hours written examination
External examiner : Internal
Marking : 7 step scale
Remarks : In order to sit for examination the laboratory work must be approved by the teacher
