Målsætning : | Based on a selection of statistical problems from the medical- and biological area, the course presents a selection of widely used models and methods. Having passed the course, the student will be able to accomplish the following, within the areas shown below: Apply fundamental statistical models for a selection of medical- og biological problems. Carry out descriptive analysis of data including applying visualization methods. Estimating linear and logistic models using regression and correlation. Compare models based on small samples sizes. Formulate a quality control problem for given sample sizes and probability models. Use the language R as a statistical analysis tool. |
||
Hovedindhold : | Probability; discrete and continuous stochastic variables; descriptive analysis of data including visualization; binomial, uniform and normal distribution; sample mean and standard error; confidence intervals; testing a hypothesis; significance test; the t- distribution; linear and logistic regression including model verification; least squares; non-parametric tests; clinical measurements; mortality statistics; quality control.
Undervisningsform : | Sessions in class with active participation by the students. The time will be divi-ded between lectures and the students solving problems, including solving statis-tical problems in the open source language R.
Krævede forudsætninger : | Documented knowledge corresponding to the first year mathematics level.
